Adam Lippes for Target Plus Size Collab

October 21, 2015 by Jami Jaye

You can say I am mad about plaid. I wore tons of plaid in middle school, to the point that my mom called me a lumberjack. Also, it was the 90's, and hip hop and grunge were at the forefront, so there was going to be a lot of oversize clothing and plaid...ijs. I just so happened to wear both. When I found out that Target's next designer collaboration was going to be with Adam Lippes, I was intrigued. He is known for chunky knits, and a minimalist way of designing, so I was like wait- why is everything in plaid? Come to find out Target was doing an ode to plaid (out right now) and this collection was the product of the plaid challenge. All of the pieces were cute, but my favorite was the sweater duster that I have on. Ladies, this is cut generously, so you can size down. I originally purchased the 2X, but had to go to the store to exchange it for their XL. It is plaid, but I love that is not the traditional tartan, it's more of a buffalo plaid. The pockets are shearling, so on chilly nights your hands can be nice and cozy while walking around town. It is made well, its warm without all the extra bulk and it's $39.99- that is a must have in my book. It's still up on the site, definitely give it a try. I paired the vest with a pair of my favorite leggings from Modamix. I have had faux leather leggings in the past, and they were always thin and did not last, these on the other hand are thick. Definitely get their updated version of these and pair them with a chunky heeled bootie from DV Dolce Vita like I did.

I am super excited to be a part of my first blogger style challenge. While chatting with my fellow blogger boos, we all purchased the vest (pure twinning)! We thought it would be a great idea for us to rock the vest, and post it together. My outfit is great for a day or night out with your boo. The leather leggings adds a touch of sexy to the casual vibe of the vest. Sandra went for the casual weekend vibe pairing hers with a denim and knee high boots. Darlene is good at taking casual pieces and making them work appropriate. She rocked her vest with a maroon pencil skirt and cute pumps.  For all the details on my boo's Darlene & Sandra rocked outfits, click on their names.

Carwash

October 19, 2015 by Jami Jaye

Fringe has taken this year by storm. The 70's aesthetic has no way of slowing down as being one of the major trends this season. So how can something simple as fringe get a modern take? One word: Carwash. The carwash skirt was featured all over the fall runways. It was paired with textured coats and pumps as an update to professional dress. In my hunt for a plus size carwash skirt, I found this one from Eloquii. The Studio Slit Pencil Skirt is a fun version of your classic little black pencil skirt. I wanted to keep the skirt as my focus so I paired the skirt with a long sleeve tee. Tee's are a vital part of my wardrobe. I always have several in rotation during this time of the year since they are so easy to layer with. With an all neutral outfit, I amped it up with my new red sunnies and a faux fur clutch. My new sunnies are super cute, they are made with pebbled faux leather- it gives them a nice edge and red looks great on everyone. I went with my BCBGeneration pumps to tie everything together. Muah lovers!!

My fellow blogger boo's La Pecosa Preciosa and Suits Heels and Curves were hosting a Modamix event at Lord & Taylor in the city last week. In was in conjunction with the launch of the Nadia Aboulhson L&L Collection from Addition Elle. Lord & Taylor has expanded their plus size floor to not only feature tried and true brands like Lauren from Ralph Lauren, but one of my favs Modamix, as well as the Melissa Mc Carthy Collection, Junarose, and Harper + Liv.  To celebrate, I wore this great shift dress from Modamix. I love the print and the studs give it a nice touch. I paired my dress with my Vince Camuto Shayla platforms and a nice pendant necklace from Baublebar. Modamix has some great fall pieces that you must get your hands on. There are a great pair of faux leather culottes, a royal blue draped coat (which needs to be in my closet ASAP), and my cute dress. I had so much at the event. I met some cool ladies, drank champagne, and I picked up a little something (post coming soon). If you are ever in the city, head to Lord & Taylor to get some pieces from this super cute collection.

Transitioning

October 12, 2015 by Jami Jaye

COAT SEASON!!! As a fashion addict, every gal has their one vice- mines is a great coat. I have had so many types over the years, but I never had a sleeveless coat. Now for most, what can you possibly do with a sleeveless coat? Is it even practical? It can be. I feel this weather is the perfect time for a sleeveless coat. Transitional weather is tricky, it's cold in the morning, hot during the day, and cool in the evening. This coat has the versatility to keep you cool when its needed, and warm when it counts. I bought this coat from Eloquii waiting for the perfect Fall afternoon. On this beautiful afternoon I paired my Hi-Lo tunic with my Denim Culottes all from Eloquii. When it comes to hanging out on the weekend, jeans are a part of my ensemble. Culottes are my new favorite pant of the season, so of course I purchased the denim version from Eloquii. Currently, they are sold out, but sign up for the waitlist because these are definitely worth buying. They have ample stretch and they come up high on the waist, which for me helps smooths out the lumps and bumps. A good button up is always in rotation this time of the year. I like pairing my button ups with jeans, it's effortlessly casual. I finished off my look with another pair of shooties from Vince Camuto and my MAC bag from Rebecca Minkoff.

Caped

October 05, 2015 by Jami Jaye

When I first saw the cape blazer, I didn't think I could wear it. I have tried ponchos and some capes, and they just didn't do anything for my figure. I felt swallowed in fabric. Never should your clothes make you feel like you are in a never ending vortex of fabric. So I gave up on anything that resembled a cape or poncho until now. Believe it or not, Instagram changed my mind about capes. I saw so many women of different shapes and sizes looking amazing in them, I said I am going to give it a try. I saw this particular cape blazer on Charlotte Russe's site (it's sold out, but there is one similar from Simply Be), added it to my cart and hoped for the best. I tried it on, and I didn't feel swallowed in fabric. I thought it was fun and cute. It has the perfect amount of volume so I don't feel trapped. I am big about proportions, so I went with these great jeggings from Fashion To Figure. A good pair of jeans can do wonders, especially when they fit well. I love these because they come up high on my waist, and make my legs look great. If you have big thighs and a booty, give these a try. I wanted the outfit to be flirty and fun, and that is the epitome of polka dots. I bought this tee back in the summer for less than $10, and it has been a great addition to my tee shirt collection. I have been on the hunt for black lace up flats, and I found these from Nine West. Definitely buy these ladies. One of the most comfortable flats I own. My clutch is another great find from Banana Republic. Muah!!
