Pop Up Plus Holiday Pop Up Shop

This past Sunday, I attended the Pop Up Plus Holiday Pop Up Holiday Shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I have been a supporter of this online boutique for years, and I was excited to go check out their Holiday collection in person. The event was held at Glasshouse, and was perfect for such an event. There was space to shop as well as a lower level to enjoy mimosas and snacks. Camy, the owner is one of the sweetest people ever. She greets everyone, and made sure everyone had a great item in one hand and a mimosa in the other. Shaina from Out of the Corner was displaying her superhero stylist skills, picking out great items for everyone.

Pop Up Plus definitely has all that you could possibly need or want for the perfect holiday outfit. There's sparkle, fur, and gowns that hug your curves. Also, the one of the kind vintage pieces are to die for. My favorites from their Holiday Collection are the Warm & Fuzzy Vest (which I bought on the spot), Lani Netted Skirt (Camy was rocking this super cute midi), and the Oh My Cape Dress. Each line is curated with love and care which says a lot about them. There are not that many online boutiques that have trend right pieces that cater to plus size women, and Pop Up Plus is definitely your go to resource. It's one thing to have on trend items, its another to provide trendy items that are affordable. Trendy and doesn't break the bank- can't ask for anything more.

I had a blast at the event. All the women left there with a smile on their face and a bag in their hand. I have a couple of outfits in mind for this vest, so stay tuned to Style Over Size! Go and support small business- head to popupplusonline.com for more of the Holiday Collection. Later lovers!!

#HeyModa

I have been picking up some goodies from Modamix this season, and I can say I am quite hooked. Each collection that drops, there is at least 2-3 things that I want. Couple of weeks back I attended the Modamix x Hey Gorgeous Holiday party. I love chatting it up with the Modamix gals Sam & Ellice, and non-stop champagne. Modamix is now available at Hey Gorgeous and to celebrate, all Modamix items were 25% off. Discount you say- so of course I definitely had to check out what else I could add to the collection.

When I saw Jessica, I knew she had to be mine. Not only is the sweater is soft, but the gold coating at the bottom just gives it some added oomph. For me the simplest things make the most impact. This sweater is only available at Hey Gorgeous, so ladies pick it up or sit in regret (My only regrets are clothes that I waited too long to buy). When I was talking to the Modamix ladies about the sweater, I said that I would wear this with some knee high boots, and so I did. These Ros Hommerson have been in my closet for a couple of years, but I never put them to good use. Why- have no clue, but I broke these bad boys out and strutted around the neighborhood. While this weather has been great to us New Yorkers, I am going to bask in it. To top off my outfit, I went with the Modamix Mori coat. Anytime I wear this coat, I receive so many compliments. If you are interested  in a new coat, definitely pick this one up. It's currently on sale, and if you don't want to go with classic black, it comes in royal blue. Now back to me strutting around. Muah lovers!!

Ugly Sweater Christmas Party

This past weekend I attended Essie Golden's First Annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party in the city. It was held at LMHQ in the Financial District. We are well into December, but it has been the mildest December in years. It was a beautiful 60 degree night, so I felt this was a great opportunity to wear a skirt sans tights. Don't get me wrong, a good pair of tights can do wonders, but I love having an option of not having to wear them. For the party, I wore my sequin camo skirt from Lane Bryant. It was an Ugly Sweater party, but I am more of a jokester so I wanted to wear something that can make people laugh. While browsing through Macy's for something, I came across this sweatshirt from American Rag Young Men's. I'm going to be honest, I consider myself one of the best gift wrappers out here, so that sweatshirt is a cosign to my mad crazy skills. A little fur is needed during the holiday season, but since it was so mild, I went with my Lane Bryant fur vest (it's on sale...so hop on that fast). I topped off my look with my Steve Madden heels, and some ruby lips.

I had a good time with my girls. I can definitively can say that at this point in my life, all I need are my friends, cocktails, and some food to make my night. While we are on the topic of food, it was delicious. There was this Miso Chicken bite that was my fav. There were some wings as well as a spicy meatball that were A1 as well. The desserts were my fav (naturally of course, because I am a sugar junkie). I tried the cake pops from Drea Cakes and they were soo good. Definitely check her out. She is the sweetest and can make one hell of a dessert. I also had a chance to try Mikey Likes It Ice Cream. I had their Hot Chocolate Ice Cream Float and it was delicious. I had this one cocktail which had pink lemonade and raspberry- so awesome! There was a pop up shop, a photo booth, and we took home a goodie bag courtesy of Ashley Stewart.

I had a great time, and can't wait to see what's in store for next year! Merry merry!!

Shine Bright

Remember when wearing stripes was a big no no? Wearing sequins was not even an option for us at one point. My how the times have changed. Sequins always had a soft spot in my heart since my days in dance school. Fun costumes with all their sparkly glamour. The more sequins the better. Now looking back, I have always been a fashion addict, because I am sitting here reminiscing about costumes from my childhood...lol.

I was going to the Erykah Badu concert in Brooklyn, and I felt this was the perfect occasion to wear my Striped Collared Sequin Dress from Eloquii. When this dress went up on their site, it was a must have for me. I do enjoy dressing up, and this is the perfect dress for it. It's preppy collar and stripes give this dress a wearable appeal despite it being made entirely of sequins. Most sequined clothing limits your range of motion because the lining does not stretch. This is not the case with this dress. This dress is sold out on their site, but Eloquii has a polka dot version. Definitely check out their site, because they are going fast (four women at the concert stopped me and asked where I got it from). I paired the dress with the Adele Laser Cut Bootie. I thought these were the perfect booties to wear for a night out on the town. The wide width of these are perfect, and you can feel the extra cushioning.  The bootie is 4 inches, so if you are like me and have been wearing 2-3 inch heels for so long, going back to 4 inches was a little weird at first. After my feet got used to some height I was fine for the rest of the night.

I had so much fun at the concert. Erykah did her thing and it was great spending time with my friends. Now that we are in holiday season you can easily get caught up with work, shopping, and just the everyday hustle, it's nice to have a night out with great music, friends and a great cocktail. The countdown is on lovers, how are you going to spend the last month of 2015?
