Slay Sister Slay

For those that are no stranger to Style Over Size, you know that a good graphic tee and a pair of jeans are a mainstay in my wardrobe. No matter what I wear, it has to be comfortable, fun, and above all else fit well.

Boyfriend jeans are one of my all time favorite denim silhouettes. They can be relaxed, sexy, and cool all depending how you want to wear them. Distressed boyfriend jeans are my favorite especially with some cute shoes, but these polka dot versions are a close second. The gold polka dots are very Kate Spade. It's a great preppy meats laid back casual piece that is effortlessly cool. I am wearing these with a tee, blazer, and sneakers, but these jeans would also look great with a crisp button up, some gold sparkly pumps and a great coat for work. For a girls night out, wear the jeans with a bodysuit and some great sandals. The looks that you can put together with these jeans are endless. If you like boyfriend jeans, then give this fun update a try.

No matter what you wear, when you wear items that you love it shows. Confidence in what you wear gives you an extra pep in your step and you really exude some serious "Slay Sister Slay" even when you are wearing sneakers. Whether you are plus size, straight size, petite, do not settle when it comes to what you wear. Whether it's a pair of sweat pants or a ball gown, if you look at it, and it gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling buy it. If not, don't even waste your money. I rather have one item I love than ten things that are just there just to fill up my closet. What you wear should always reflect you and you alone. Do not let anyone stop you from wearing what makes you feel good. I want to hear from you out there lovers, what is that item in your life that makes you smile every time you wear it. I want to know about your "Slay Sister Slay' piece. Sound off in the comments, and until next time lovers!! Muah!

Brunch Glam

I started off 2017 with brunch with my roomie from college. She is a New Year's baby and came to town to enjoy the city. It was a chilly, but sunny day in NYC and I felt it was the perfect day to give my Roamans fur coat a wear. Faux fur is a weakness of mine (my love of fur started because of my mom) and anything grey, so when I saw this on Fullbeauty's site it was added to the cart immediately. Also, it being 50% off didn't hurt either. The coat kept me warm as I walked around NYC New Year's Day. Usually when it comes to fur coats, I prefer them to be on the shorter side since I am 5'6". This one hit above the knee which is the perfect sweet spot.

When you are torn between casual and glam...you get this.

This coat is just oh so fab. Even with a sweatshirt and jeans, I still look pulled together. When it comes to brunch I like to wear items that are comfy. For me, there is nothing worse than eating good, but feel stuffed and uncomfortable in your clothes. Sweatshirts are a big part of my wardrobe and anything with cute embellishments or detailing definitely takes the classic sweatshirt from work out to werk. My love affair with Melissa McCarthy denim continues with this ankle skinny jeans. Her denim is stretchy but does not give out where some denim can. I wore these all day and whether I was walking, or sitting, the jeans still kept their shape.

When you see a skateboarder complete a cool trick while taking blog pics

With neutrals I always want to wear a lip color that pops. For those that know me, I'm all about the vampy lip and I have so many wines, blacks, deep reds, and purples. I would have never thought that my new favorite lippie would be teal. This is called Uniformly Fabulous and its amazing. I love how it pops against my melanin and just brings the whole edgy glam casual look together. So what do you think? Was my Brunch Glam look a hit? Sound off in the comments. Muah!

Jaye & The Holograms

As a 80's baby, Saturday Morning Cartoons was a way of life. I watched everything from GI Joe, Transformers, Thundercats, He-Man, She-Ra, the list goes on. One could say that I was a TV junkie, but hey there were a lot of good shows back then. One of my all time favorites was Jem & the Holograms. I loved watched Jerrica and the crew running a music company and selling out shows. This look is the perfect combination of Jen & Jerrica, fun, professional, and pink.

This season the pleated skirt (irregardless of the length) has become the must have skirt. I was on the hunt for a silver metallic skirt, but could not find one in plus. Gunmetal- yes, but silver, not at all. Then I was browsing the new arrivals from Fullbeauty, and found it- yes a silver metallic skirt!!! I ordered it with the quickness and checked the skirt off my list. When it arrived in the mail, I noticed it was much more than a silver skirt. It was holographic. Yup, the perfect silver metallic skirt was a holographic silver skirt. Immediately Jem came to mind, and I was like you know what, this is the best of both worlds. It's cool enough for Jerrica to wear during the day and funky enough for Jem to wear on stage. One could not be happier with this Jessica London skirt.

My turtlenecks are still in heavy rotation, and this one from Violeta c/o Mango is a great staple to have. I wish their clothing came higher than a 20, but they do make well made staples that you can wear forever. The skirt has blue & pink undertones so I decided to wear my pink heels and moto jacket. I ended out the look with another hologram piece, my oldie but goodie purse.

Have you ever bought an item and it brought back nostalgia from your childhood? Let me know in the comments!

How I Holiday

I had the pleasure of working on my first lookbook with Pop Up Plus! If you have not heard of them, they are a NYC based online boutique featuring the hottest items for us plus size gals. Myself, alongside Anita of Foreign Curves and Kala from Model May I wore some of the newest arrivals for their latest campaign #HowIHoliday.

For our first look we all wore the Gigi Halter dress. This dress fits amazing and the colors look amazing against all skin tones. Gigi is made from a super stretchy velvet material, so it's quite comfortable. With velvet being the "It" material of the season, this dress is a must have for any of your Holiday parties.

For my second look, I went with Glam To the Bone metallic maxi skirt. Metallic skirts have been big this season. They are so versatile. Since metallics pair well with everything, I can dress it up with a bodysuit (like I did for the lookbook), or dress it down with a sweatshirt and sneakers. Kala is wearing the Oh Baby Sheer Velvet Dress- like isn't she smoking hot!!! Anita is slaying in a black and gold sequin dress. All she needs is a clutch and she is ready for a night out on the town!!

For my final look, I went with something out of comfort zone. Now I love me a good jumpsuit, but I have never worn a fitted jumpsuit before. Since my train of thought these days is "Hey, you never know" I went ahead and tried it on and it looked amazing!! The Studded Fantasy Jumpsuit is definitely a show stopper. It has adequate stretch, so it's definitely an item you can move around it and show off all those wonderful curves.

Kala is wearing a printed cutout jumpsuit and I loved how she styled it with a blue strappy sandal to play off the the colors in the print. Anita is wearing Careless Whisper Dress and what I love about the dress is that even though its modest in the front, the back has a low scoop back and a split. You can definitely make a killer exit in the dress...lol.

In addition to the shoot, we also shared what we love about the holidays. Check it out below!!

I had so much fun working with the Pop Up Team and it definitely shows in our pictures. I want to thank the team for including me in this amazing project. If you are looking for fun, and sexy items at a great price point (All the looks that we wore for the lookbook were under $60!!!) then definitely head to Pop Up Plus. Trust me the site has great pieces that would work for any wardrobe. So lovers, let me know "How You Holiday" in the comments below!!
