Ahoy There

It's that time of the year!!! This past weekend I and the girls attended Essie Golden's 3rd Annual Golden Confidence Pool Party. This year the party moved to Times Square at the Grace Hotel. A swanky little boutique hotel. If you have been following the blog for a while now, last year was all about bringing out the sexy in all white. This year, I was all about fun & flirty nautical theme.

I am loving the new swim collection. There is definitely something for everyone in their debut collection. There is off the shoulder, fun one pieces, and cool separates. I was feeling the nautical vibes of this suit and cardigan combo. The cardigan is super cute and it's a nice coverup. It's made from the same material as the swimwear so it's nice and lightweight. To tie in the whole nautical theme I went with the Button Detail Cropped Pant. When I say I am in love with these pants- it's an understatement. I am wearing a size 16 and as you can see they fit amazing.

I went with the cool separates to make my bikini all my own. I paired the Bow Bikini Top in Red Geo with the Rouched High Waisted Bottoms in Red. I am wearing a 18 in the bottoms and a 20 in the top. I sized up for the bikini top so I can have more coverage. I wear a H bra, so to err on the side of caution I will size up so I won't have to worry about spillage. Everyone wants to have great cleavage, but you never want to feel like you are going to fall out at any given moment. This suit made me feel beautiful and secure. To keep the retro vibes going, I went with their white retro sunglasses (sold out unfortunately).

The energy of the event was amazing. There was two fashion shows this year- one featuring Fashion To Figure's new swim collection, and the latest from Boohoo. I got a chance to catch up with the lovely ladies of Eloquii and meet the awesome creator of Feminine Funk. Any chance that I get to catch up with my fellow bloggers is always a good thing. I also got to meet some of followers IRL so that was pretty surreal. I enjoyed some cocktails and popsicles- to be honest what else do you really need? Makings of a good pool party.

MUAH!!!

Made In The Shade

As a Pisces, my mood changes based on my surroundings. When the weather is great, I just want to be outside and when it's not, all I want to do is stay inside and curl up in my bed with a good movie. So when the sun is shining, this gal likes to be out and about, and my outfit reflects such.

When I saw this tee in J Crew when I was in Atlanta, I just had to have it. It just speaks to me in so many ways. If you are new to the blog, you should know that I am obsessed with graphic tee's. My collection keeps growing and growing and it will never stop. I am wearing an XL, and the fit was perfect.

Ruffles are all the rage the season. I'm loving all the tops and skirts that have been adorned with them. I have been looking for a khaki colored one to wear with the tee, and I found this one from Lane Bryant. Their Lane Style collections have been a favorite of mines. They are a little bit more fashion forward and solely online. Once they are gone, they are gone, so as soon as I saw this skirt, I used my LB promo code and ordered it immediately. It is a true wrap skirt, which I like because you have the option to adjust as needed to make the fit work for you. Usually wrap skirts have several buttons for easier adjustments, but this one only came with one. I just went ahead and sewed on the additional button. It does have stretch, and the material is soft.

With all of the neutrals, I wanted my accessories to pop, so I wore my new headwrap from the Wrap Life. I bought my first headwrap last year and I have been obsessed since. This cutie is called the Thandi. When you are made in the shade, you definitely need a great pair of shades to compliment the look, so my Miu Miu's were the perfect accent to my look. I found these at a sample sale, and I love the exaggerated fun take on aviators. Summer dressing is all about ease, so I went with my Zara mules. The heel height makes these perfect for walking around. This color is sold out, but there are other colors still available and on sale. All that was needed was my trusty Dooney & Bourke tote and I was all set.

Now to enjoy my time in my sun. Later lovers!!!

Ruffled Up

My quest of trying new things has been a lot of fun. It all started with trying some ruffle hemmed pants (If you haven't checked out that post, click here), but now I am woman obsessed with ruffles. Now I have added a ruffle skirt to the mix, and this is only the beginning.

The ruffle flounce skirt from Eloquii is a great piece to add to your closet. It's made of a lightweight twill material, so even though it was 90+ degree's I was not hot at all. Another bonus, it has pockets. Anything with pockets makes my life all the better. I am wearing a 16, and it has stretch so you can order your size and you will have room.

Since I was at the Fit For Me event during Full Figured Fashion Week, I wanted to make sure I kept it cute and comfortable. It was hot in NYC, so it's all about items that are hot, but can still can keep me cool. I paired my skirt with the super cute and trendy tassel tee. I love a great tee, and this one gives added interest without any need for accessories.

To bring my look together, I wore my Steve Madden Inca block heel sandals. These are a favorite of mine for so many reasons. First, they are leopard, and we all know leopard goes with everything. Second, the heel is great for daily wear. Third, the embroidery. From the front, it's just your simple leopard sandal, but when you see them from the back, you get to see all the great flower detail. Every time I wear these shoes, I receive tons of compliments. Currently, they are on sale, so definitely check them out. All that was left was my favorite red lippie from Too Faced called Lady Balls. This liquid matte is phenomenal. It has been hands down my favorite liquid lippie.

I enjoyed the evening catching up with the blogger boo's and having some much needed cocktails. Don't worry because I will have a post dedicated to the event. So stay tuned lovers!!!

What Do You Pink?

The first pink item that I fell in love with was a pair of pink striped overalls from Osh Kosh B'Gosh. They were comfy and oh so cool. Here it is some time later, and I am in love with another easy breezy pink piece, this time a jumpsuit. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Cute & affordable?? Buy this jumpsuit now!

This jumpsuit is from the new plus size brand Loralette. If you have not heard of them, they are the sister brand to the Avenue. Their focus is towards the plus size trendy gal. The brand launched earlier this year, and there are some super cute pieces that I have been feeling. If you head to the site, there are great tops, dresses, and even some cute swim options.

I am wearing a 2X in the jumpsuit. Loralette sizing goes from 1X-3X. I normally wear a 16-18 and the 2X had just the right amount of room for my thighs. With this being cropped, I am always worried about where it hit against my leg, but the length on this worked great for my 5'5" frame. The faux wrap design gives it some added interest and the self tie gives the illusion of a belt. It's stretchy which makes ever so comfortable. It's also a great price, only $55, but when you sign up your, first purchase is 40% off which would make this $38.50!!! An instant outfit maker that's affordable? Add this to your cart ASAP.

Hey you!

Besides the price, the versatility of this jumpsuit is another reason why this is a keeper. I can wear it to work- all that is needed is a lightweight jacket since the office can get chilly. Weekend running around with some sneakers, or date night with some killer heels. For my look, I went with my favorite oldie but goodie wedges with a choker and fun clutch. My clutch is sold out, but I found another cute option from Who What Wear.

Definitely check out Loralette which is online, or in select Avenue locations!

Enjoy lovers!!! Muah!

MDW

I live for three day weekends. Usually I am out and about running around doing the most, but this weekend, I kept it lowkey and just relaxed. I caught up on movies I haven't seen, took a nice long drive and just enjoyed the weather. Taking time to just reset is always needed, but for once I don't feel bad for not doing much. When I have a lazy weekend, I end up feeling bad cause I could have done X, Y. Z and get things taken care of, but this weekend, I do not feel the least bit bad about not working on my never ending to do list.

These days, I feel like my weekends are filled with errands and catching up versus going out and enjoying. Last weekend I went with my girls to this event called Must Love Beards, and had dinner afterwards. Hanging with the crew nowadays is far & few between due to our schedules, but I am making it a priority to spend as much time with them while we can. It's so easy to get caught up with work that before you know it a whole month has gone past and you haven't had crew time. Starting this weekend, and throughout the summer, I have a list of things that I want to do. Definitely be on the lookout to see me hanging at a rooftop bar, the beach, and going back to Atlanta. Yes, one should handle the responsibilities of the daily grind, but all work and no play makes this blogger tired and run down.

While me being out and about enjoying life, all the goodies I have been ordering will be in rotation as well. When the temps rise, I practically live by the one and done dressing rule. Dresses, jumpsuits, and rompers are all on deck this summer. First to kick it off is the Halter Neck Romper from Eloquii. I just love how easy this romper is an instant statement maker with it's simple color palette. I am wearing a size 18 because since this is lined, I wanted to make sure I had enough room for the thighs. It easy to get in and out of- so you don't need a bathroom buddy to zip you. Well you can if you want, but it's not a requirement. If you are a fan of a jumpsuit, you will definitely like this romper.

Keeping it cute and comfortable is always my number one priority. I found these Betsey Johnson shoes on sale, and I just had to have them. Gingham is huge this season, and in a great low heel shoe, it's a win win. They also come in a floral print and denim so if you are in the need of a cute sandal that you can wear with anything, then look no further. Bonus, they are less than $30.

I ended out my look with the "It Bag" of the season the Cult Gaia Ark bag. Anytime I have it with me, I receive so many compliments, and it holds everything I need while looking chic.

Now I am off to finish off my Must Have Fun List. LOL! Enjoy lovers!!
