Fully Vested

June 30, 2015 by Jami Jaye

Today's post is all about how I love to dress up denim. If you are new or old to Style Over Size, I love my denim. In my ideal world I would pair it one day with sequins, the next sneakers...hmm now that I am writing this maybe I should do a post devoted to denim over the course of a week. Back to the matter at hand, for today's post I went casual chic by pairing my Lane Bryant denim capri's with Eloquii's Studio Milan Crepe Vest. I am a big fan of vests, and what I love about this one, is the dressed up feel to it. With the tie belt you can wear it solo (like I did) or unbelted over a flowy maxi dress. If you are in the need for some lightweight denim, definitely check out the Genuis Fit Capri. Today wasn't the typical humidity filled NYC summer day, but I have worn them on such and I was still comfortable. Now to the best part of my outfit- my shoes. These fringed heels are from Report Signature (Bonus: they are on sale), and they are the most comfortable heels I own. The heel is a great height for walking (its 2.75 inches), and fringe is all the rage so the Noemie is a win win in my book. Nowadays there are so many great options for heels that are 3 inches or less and still look great, that you may even re-consider being in the sky high heel club. Are you still about 4.5 inches or better, or have you come back down to earth? Email me at styleoversize@gmail.com or sound off in the comments. Muah!

The Curvy Con!

June 27, 2015 by Jami Jaye in Plus Size Fashion, Fashion

Last Saturday, I attended the Curvy Con held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in NYC. The purpose of the event was to get plus size brands, bloggers, fellow shopaholics and fashionistas all in one room to talk, shop, and celebrate all things plus size. I decided to go with another jumpsuit, this time from Lane Bryant's 6th and Lane Collection. When I tried this jumpsuit on, I felt like I can do no wrong. This jumpsuit is comfortable and sexy, which was needed while walking around checking out all that the Curvy Con had to offer. This jumpsuit to me is an ode to the 70's with its wrapped bodice and wide legs. Unfortunately the jumpsuit is sold out online, but I suggest heading to Lane Bryant. Right now it is their Semi-Annual sale, so you might luck out and catch this bad boy 40% off. With the jumpsuits bold color, I wanted to go with an equally bold clutch to showcase that wearing color on color is never a bad thing. My beautiful cobalt clutch is from Sole Society. I recommend you head to their site, because they have a great assortment of shoes, bags and accessories that are very affordable. My necklace is from Baublebar and its called the Gold Tassel Strand Necklace. I wanted to wear heels, but since I knew I would be walking around, I went with my Circus by Sam Edelman sandals (and my feet were happy that I did).

My first stop was the Modamix booth to check out their Summer Collection. The first thing that caught my eye was their Chambray Jumpsuit. Being a newly minted jumpsuit addict, you know I just had to try it on. I went with a size 18 since there was no stretch. It looked so great on me, I bought it right there on the spot. There is a pic of me trying it on Modamix's gram account.

Also, I got a chance to chat with the Modamix team. I love conversing with women that are passionate about bringing great clothes to all women, and they are pretty awesome to boot. They even let me catch a sneak peak of their Fall & Winter Collection. All I have to say is be prepared for bold patterns, and lots of color.  You can find Modamix currently on Macys.com, Dia & Co, and Lord & Taylor in the Fall.

Next up, I stopped by the Eloquii booth to chat it up and see what they had (even though I practically live on their site daily). They were having a $39 pant promo, so I knew this was the perfect time to buy their Printed Wide Leg Pants. Also, while I was there, I snapped some pics of the ladies, and won a necklace from their bubble gum machine! OWWW!! Eloquii is another brand that I love because they are serious about great fashion regardless of size. Added bonus, I got to order all that I wanted and they shipped it to my house free of charge, because I was starting to look like a bag lady with all my goodies.

After chatting it up for a bit and taking pics, I headed to Lysse booth. Now I have heard about their leggings since they are sold at Nordstrom & Lane Bryant online, but this was a great chance to see what the brand had to offer in person. I was checking out their leggings, and found a pair of white moto leggings. Now at first I was nervous about them because white can show all your lumps and bumps. I was with my fellow blogger boo Pepper, and she assured me that these will smooth anything you can throw at them. My thing is if someone "Swears to the testament of these leggings" that is good enough for me. I was able to snag these cuties for $40 and I am soo excited to wear them. I went with a 2x as per the rep's suggestion. When I tried these on when I got home, I did not see any lines, bumps, or anything. These leggings are soo good, I need to get another pair to wear in the fall. Thank you Pepper for the recommendation!!

I did get a chance to check out the new plus size brand Eleven 60, created by the lovely Kierra Sheard. I have seen pics of the line, but it was nice to get a chance to look at the pieces in person. My favorite piece from the collection is the J Trench. Now this coat retails for $400, so it is not in the budget, but that does not take away from how amazing the coat is. The London's Owl dress would make the perfect addition to anyone's fall ensemble. Definitely looking forward to see what else she has planned for Fall.

Hooked Up Shapewear- ingenious! All of their shapewear comes up all the way and hooks to your bra to create a smooth line with no back fat. I was raised on the importance of great shapewear so I definitely gave them a try. I went with the bikini style, but they have boy shorts, biker shorts, as well as slips. Some shapewear can feel very constricting, but this does the job without that binding feeling. A major win-win!

Dia & Co.  is a great mail service that provides women with options of clothing to amp up their wardrobe. You fill out a survey, and one of their stylists creates a box of items that would work based on your style. Whatever you want to keep, that's what you will charged for. Nadia & Lydia really want to ensure that all women have access to great looking clothes in the comfort of your own home. At their booth, there were some cute pieces up for sale. For the event that had a giveaway, write about your style or describe yourself, take a selfie with their logo and you are automatically entered to win a box curated by Cece & Chastity.

During my breaks from shopping, I did go and listen in on some of the panel discussions. I enjoyed the Rock Your Confidence panel and How to Be Stylish. The panels gave some great advice and the moderators as well as guests asked questions to foster an open environment for sharing thoughts and experiences. I had to leave early for another event, so I missed out on the Amber Riley panel discussion :( but I am sure it was good. I enjoyed myself, got a temp tattoo, got a chance to meet new people as well as expand my fashion jones by getting to know new brands. All & all the convention was a success.

As I was writing this, I got an email from the Curvy Con stating they will be back next year for not one, but two fun filled days! See you June 17th and the 18th 2016!

#XOQ Rooftop Party

June 24, 2015 by Jami Jaye in Fashion, Plus Size Fashion

Friday night I had the pleasure of attending a lovely rooftop party at the Wythe Hotel hosted by Eloquii in honor of the first annual Curvy Con which is the brainchild of Cece Olisa & Chastity Garner. Eloquii had their own private suite with a bartender creating the signature cocktail of the evening called the #XOQ, a great drink made with tequila and grapefruit juice, great finger food (mini cheeseburgers & grilled cheese), as well as a gorgeous view of the city. Since it was an Eloquii event, it was only right to wear something of theirs. For the evening I went with their Ruffle Sleeve Jumpsuit. When I first saw this jumpsuit I thought there was no way I can pull this off, but when I saw Jeniese from Je Ne Sais Quoi  wear it, I was inspired to give it a try. (I got a chance to meet her at the event, and we bonded over jumpsuits- she is my girl crush). Alas, when I went to go buy it my size was sold out - NOOOO! I guess the fashion gods were on my side because I ended up getting an email from Eloquii saying that it was back in stock. I made sure I did not miss out on it this time around round, and double bonus there was a sale! I kept the royal blue going by pairing the jumpsuit with my Vince Camuto Casara sandals. I found these cuties on the sale rack at Macy's and I am glad I did. I was standing in these for about 4 hours and I was good. Any heel that does not want me to take them off and throw them across the room after two hours is a keeper. Definitely give these shoes a try if you are looking for a cute and comfy heel, also the royal blue pairs well with a lot of colors which makes them extremely versatile. Accessories wise I went with my leopard Gap pouch, Miu Miu shades, and my gold bib necklace.

Back to the event- I was super excited because I got to meet my gram friend Dionna from Made Me Pretty in person! I also got to meet Jeniese, Georgette from Grown and Curvy Woman, and Pepper from Pretty Plus Pep . I chatted with Keirra Sheard- she marveled at the fact that my jumpsuit matched my shoes perfectly (swoon) and we chatted about the launch of her new clothing line Eleven 60. I definitely want to thank the Eloquii team for a wonderful event. Mariah, Jodi, and the rest of the team are great and it was great to meet them in person. Of course I spent time with my usual suspects, and afterwards we kept it going with drinks, laughs, and food. Here are some pics I took of the of some of the lovely ladies that attended. It was nice being behind the camera again taking shots of all the gorgeous ladies in attendance. Next up lovers is the first annual Curvy Con. Check back later this week for my recap of the event.

All White Cruise #FFF2015

June 22, 2015 by Jami Jaye in Fashion

Continuing on with a great week of fashion, fun, and fellowship, next up for me was the Full Figured Fashion Week All White Cruise. The cruise is one of the biggest events of the week rivaled to the fashion shows. It's always great to see all the beautiful women showing off their best in white. For this year's event I went with Fashion to Figure's Mesh Crop Top and my favorite pants from Lane Bryant. I was feeling quite adventurous and decided to show some belly. Usually when I wear a crop top its with a high waisted skirt, but I wanted to mix it up. I was going to wear some cute heels, but I remember last year when I brought them and took them off after an hour because of all of the rocking back and forth. So I decided to forgo changing shoes and went with my Vince Camuto Miya sandals. These are my sandals of the summer, and currently on sale at Vince Camuto. So if you are in the need of a good leather sandal, look no further. Since I was feeling bold, I decided to rock a bold purple lip. I mixed two of my favorite purple lippies Mac Violetta & Signature PS Unlimited.

This year the cruise was held on a spacious yacht. There were three floors so there was plenty of room to move about and socialize. On the first floor, Ashley Stewart had a mini runway show displaying their best white  party outfits. There were cut-out jeans, flowy dresses, lace, and linen. There were some great giveaways, and we even got some performances. What made my evening was meeting bloggers that I have admired such as Assa from My Curves and Curls, and Ashley from Big Beautiful Black Girls. Of course I spent time with my girls Sandra & Darlene and my new boo Gavyn. I danced, I laughed, and I had the best drink ever called the Long Beach- its the cousin of a Long Island Iced Tea. Shout out to the bartender, he sure can mix some drinks. What's your go to white party outfit? You can email your best looks or use my hashtag #styleoversize to be featured. Until next time lovers! Muah!

Harper + Liv Visit

June 17, 2015 by Jami Jaye

I had the pleasure of visiting the Harper + Liv Showroom on Monday to check out their Summer Collection. As soon as I walked into the showroom, I was in love. There was not one piece there that I did not want. Their summer collection is what I like to call Boho Chic; there are crochet tops, vests, cut-off shorts, printed pants, flowy tops, and kimono's. What I like about Harper + Liv is that there is something for everyone in their collection. Also, the brand is all about color. Anyone that knows me, knows that I love colorful pieces, so anyone that can provide me with color, or a print that looks great, I am buying it. My overall look is far from bohemian, but the kimono and crochet top are worth a try. Stay tuned, I will have a post up with some pieces from the collection. Harper + Liv Summer collection is available online now at Dillards. As a bonus I got a sneak peak of their upcoming Fall & Winter collections. I have posted some of my favs just to give you a taste of what is in store for this brand.

Pieces from the Harper + Liv Summer Collection. I meant to get a pic of the cut-off shorts...soo cute.
