Tis the Season for Collaboration

It’s December Lovers….Whew Chile. 2020 has been a A L O T!!!! Even though this has been a tough year, I will say the love and support from my friends has been amazing. It’s amazing on how this journey of blogging, I have made some amazing friends. One of which is Jessica (@missjae1908 on Instagram) who is one half of The Brunch Beat. We met on Snapchat and shared our love of skincare, clothing, and all things blerd. It’s been a match made in friendship ever since.

Sometime back, Jess did something called the 12 Days of Masks during the Holidays. She would pick a mask, try it out on Snapchat and show the results. I loved the idea so much that I asked could I participate with her and we started sharing it on Instagram. This year, we wanted to really share and promote it, and get yall involved too!!! Starting this Sunday, on Instagram we are going to pick a mask a day and share our results. The best part is if you decide to try one out with us, just use the hashtag #12daysofmasks and tag us (@styleoversize & @missjae1908) and we will share!! Tis the season to share, and this is a just a cute and fun way to share with you all.

Jibri Loungewear

Now of course it wouldn’t be a collaboration without a mini photo shoot. Like I said, we share a love for a lot of things so I was excited when Jess decided to get a piece from Jibir. I have been a fan of Jibri for years and have several pieces which I love and shared on the blog. When Jibri dropped a grey loungewear set, I just had to have it, and Jess loved it as well so we were like let’s shoot it together! Of course we are going to put our own spin on the set. Since this was loungewear, we both said we were going to wear sneakers. Now of course we could have dressed it up and wore some cute shoes, but these days I am gravitating towards my sneakers and flats, no heels of any kind.

I wanted to go classic 90’s style with my set, and paired it with one of my favorite sneakers the Air Max 95 Essential. I have loved this sneaker and I am happy that Nike is re-releasing them in the classic colorways as well as new combo’s. I am wearing a kids size 7 (which works for a woman’s 8.5) and this is canvas & leather combo sneaker. The Jibri set is a Size 2, but I could have sized down to a 1 since it’s on the slouchier side and stretchy. The great thing about Jibri is that you can get this customized, so if you have your measurements and need certain things (ie more length in the legs or shorter, she can work with you). I am leaning towards getting the black and if I do, it will get the smaller size. I wanted to keep the palette simple, so I wore my white moto from Eloquii, and this greyish blue & white headwrap from the Wrap Life. Also, I was able to get my hands on a Kashmir VIII Clutch. I have been eyeing them for a while, and happy that I pulled the trigger and got the customized mixtape bag. The clutch is a great size to hold all the essentials- wallet, keys, phone, mask, wipes and sanitizer.

Jess wore her Jibri set (her’s is a size 4, but could have worn a 3) with a Woman Within denim jacket adorned with her favorite pins. Her hat is from Old Navy, and her sunnies are from Forever 21. Her sneaker of choice was the Nike Space Hippie. Let me tell you about these sneakers. First of all they are super comfortable. Like walking on clouds comfy. Second, they are made with recyclable materials which makes them sustainable which is awesome as well. I have a pair in neutral, and they are great. Added bonus, just found out that Grey is one of the Pantone Colors of 2021!!! So excited that my favorite color is going to be the focus for the upcoming year. Also, since I already have a lot of grey, I am in style!!!!! LOL

Are you excited for our collab??? Let me know if there is a skincare product you are interested in me trying?

Muah Lovers!!!

Cozy Time

Once the temps start to drop, I go on the hunt for the perfect sweaters to wear. From embellished, to unexpected twists, when it comes to my sweater collection, it is curated to not only fits into my style, but above all else keep me warm. There is nothing worse than having the thinest of sweaters on a cold NYC day.

Jibri Skirt

I have been gravitating towards prints, and super chunky knits this season, but there was something about this sweater that had me wanting it immediately. It’s definitely your classic black knit sweater, but what drew me to it was that it was slightly oversized and cropped. It totally gives me 90’s vibes. Its not a super chunky knit but trust that it does the job on the warm front. I am wearing a 18/20, but I could have sized down to a 14/16.

Eloquii Cropped Sweater

The combo of the season that everyone can pull off is the sweater-skirt combo. It’s a great look that can be easily dressed up or down just by switching up your accessories. When I saw this skirt from Jibri, I instantly fell in love. What solidified the deal for me was when Jibri was in NYC for Curvy Con, and I got a chance to see it in person. I love me some animal print, and add in my favorite color grey, she had to come home with me.

Skirt & Sweater Combo

I’m a firm believer that when you have great pieces in your closet that are effortless that when you have to get dressed, it’s easy and you look put together. Animal print has been all over the runways, but it still is a great neutral that pairs well with other neutrals or color. All I had to do to end out my look was to add some glitter booties (these are oldies but goodies, but I linked something similar here), and my trusty handbag, and I am out the door.

When it comes to the holiday’s you can always go all out festive with sequins, or brocade, but if that is not your thing, go with an animal print. Holiday dressing is what you make of it, and as long as you look and feel your best that will shine through. Merry Merry Lovers!!!!

To The Max

I love when online brands host pop up shops. It gives you an opportunity to try on items, which is the most important factor when shopping. Atlanta based Jibri held a pop up shop in NYC during Full Figured Fashion Week, and I definitely made sure I was there. Last year I was not able to go, but I made it a priority this year. I have always wanted a skirt from them, so this was my chance to check them out.

I tried on several skirts, but the maxi's spoke to me. My first choice was the high waisted animal print skirt. Come on, it's the perfect skirt. Long, flowy and versatile. I can wear it now, and well into fall. Then when I was going through the racks one more time, I found this one. Anyone that knows me, knows that I love a good neon printed piece, so she had to come home with me as well. I was measured (I can wear either a 1 or a 2, depending on how I feel that day), so going forward I can order my size knowing it will fit. The length of these work well for me, I can wear them with heels or flats.  I have been obsessed with off the shoulder tops and this one from Eloquii is soft like your favorite tee shirt (bonus, it's on sale). I'm definitely happy with my skirt, it has pockets, it snatches my waist, and it's colorful. Definite win- and if you have not checked out Jibri, make sure you do. Bonus- she is now doing Bridal, and the gowns are perfection.
