Flower Power

Florals & Spring- the pair will never break up, but this season I am seeing more darker florals that I am feeling. Once the temps rise one & done dressing is in full effect. All of my dresses and jumpsuits are in full rotation, and I could not be happier. The latest add to my collection is this super cute wide leg jumpsuit from Simply Be.

What caught my eye was the bright shades of reddish orange, reds, rust and hints of olive. The jumpsuit does not stretch so I went with a size 18. When shopping for jumpsuits I always make sure the fit on the bottom is right. the 18 gave me some room, but it's not sloppy. This is definitely one of those jumpsuits that require a strapless bra so make sure you have a good one handy. Also, the zipper in the back is easy to reach, so no team is needed to get out of it. With this jumpsuit it can be easily dressed up or down, so it's great for those that are all about double duty dressing. I can throw this on with a pair of sneakers to run errands, a cute thong sandal while on vacation (something I need to plan asap), or with a blazer & heels for work.

When it comes to belts, I either go to my tried and true black belt, or I just don't wear one. That changed when I saw this pineapple one. I loved the bright color, and I have become somewhat obsessed with pineapples this season. Even though I am not a big belt girl, this one will be on rotation. It's fun and cute, and if you are going to try something new, why not do it up and go bright. I have been on a shoe binge, and these Vince Camuto caged shoes were a part of the haul. The bright orange red color is vibrant, the cage detail gives the shoe an added interest and the heel is the perfect height for walking around NYC. Lately I have been all about cute flats and sneakers, but the Prisintha is slowly working her magic and changing my mind. The shoe comes in so many great colors for Spring, so there is a pair out there for you.

I'm looking forward to this week of great weather, events, and time with friends while of course looking good. I am ecstatic to wear all my new looks, so definitely stay tuned.

Show Off

After a stretch of rain, finally the sun is shining and the weather is higher than 40 degrees. I am definitely affected by the weather. Rain makes me want to stay inside and just watch old movies. It does not motivate me to anything but sit on the couch and binge watch something. When I woke up to some much needed sunshine, I knew it was time to wear this super cute skirt from Simply Be.

Simply Be's Spring collection is filled with tons of prints, on trend silhouettes and a campaign that is all about celebrating us called We Are Curves. I'm still loving pleated skirts, but this one is shorter which shows off all the legs. The gams have been in hibernation, but it's time to let them enjoy some sun. This is a cute skirt to add to your closet. First, it's only $41 which is a great deal. Most skirts I come across these days are around $69 (before any promotions or discounts), so $41 is not bad at all IMO. Second, I have been gravitating towards a lot of prints, and this blue based print is subtle enough that you can mix it with another pattern. I am still an amateur pattern mixer, so I try to stick to color palettes that I can play around with. At some point, I am just going to throw caution to wind and just go for it, but for now, baby steps.

The skirt gives off a playful flirty vibe that I thought would look great with this Ava & Viv Eyelet bomber jacket. Skirts & bombers just look so great together, and with the eyelet design it plays well with the design of the skirt. Target's plus size section has some hidden jewels, so definitely take some time out and check out all they have to offer. I am wearing a 2X in the jacket and it has enough room if you want to layer. I love anything eyelet, so in a bomber it was a must have for me.

Since I was wearing a lot of navy blue, I felt that cobalt pair of strappy sandals would be a fun pop of color while still staying within the blue family. These are some oldies but goodies from Vince Camuto, but I have linked some other cute styles that you can wear now. My clutch is my favorite from Zara and my top is another oldie but goodie from Eloquii.

Are you ready to show off this season? Are you excited for flirty dresses or is a skirt more up your speed? Sound off in the comments!!!

Mascara, Coffee, and Metallics

There are things that this lady needs to function. One is coffee. If you follow me on Snapchat (styleoversize) you see me heading to my favorite spot for my Venti Soy White Mocha. The next, a little lippie and mascara. I am not a makeup artist, but I feel like I have mastered a good natural day look and mascara is soo needed. Therefore when I saw this tee on sale at Old Navy, I grabbed it and checked out. For those that are new to the blog, "Hi, my name is Jaye and I am graphic tee addict."

I found this great tee while I was walking around Old Navy. I haven't been frequenting stores as much as I used to these days (the ease of online shopping), but while I was out on a much needed break from work I went in and checked out what was new. I found a couple of other goodies in Old Navy but I made sure I bought this tee. There is no such thing as having too many tee's in my opinion. This tee was only $14 and I am wearing an XL. Their shirts are roomy enough to accommodate the twins while still looking semi fitted. Graphic tee's tell a little bit of my personality- funny and cute...lol. Definitely check them out cause they have a lot of options.

Okay, so can we talk about this metallic bomber??? Bombers have been my weakness, and when I saw this on Simply Be's website I had to have it. The amount of bombers I own might be a little high, but how many sites/stores have a metallic bomber...in plus....and it looks great against this skin??? Yeah, so she had to come home to me. I am wearing a 20 because I wanted room for layering so I can get so many uses from this jacket. I will say this before and I will say it again, if you have a great jacket in your wardrobe, you are set. I will be wearing this jacket A LOT!! The brassy color pairs with almost everything, and it's just so cute.

So what does one wear with a metallic bomber, and a graphic tee...to be honest- anything. I wanted to girly up the look so I went with the Eloquii's metallic pleated skirt that came out this past season. This skirt may have dropped in the Winter, but it is definitely an item you can wear all year round. For a rather mild day, you can go sans tights and wear some cute flats and a button up. In chillier weather a nice cashmere turtleneck sweater with some heeled booties, and in the summer time with a cute off the shoulder top and wedges. There are so many ways you can wear this, the skirt is definitely something you should add to your closet.

Statement sunnies like these upped the cool factor of my entire look. You don't have to spend tons of money on a pair of cool looking sunglasses. These are only $20 from Eloquii!!! Currently they are sold out, but there is a waitlist so that means they are definitely restocking them. The detailing of these makes them look way more expensive than their price tag.

My footwear of choice was my Adidas Superstar. I love wearing girly items like a pleated skirt with sneakers. Dressier items like the skirt feel a little bit more casual when you wear them with sneakers, or a cool pair of oxfords.

The old rules of not wearing something casual with a dressy item has been voided. Nowadays, it's all about mixing high/low, nighttime in the daytime, and boy meets girl. Wear what you like, and you will never go wrong. Now for me, it's time to get that coffee...enjoy lovers!!!

Layer Addict

Layering will always be a part of my go to styling technique when the temps drop. Yes, I want to be cute, but there is nothing worse than wearing an outfit and you are freezing. You can climatize your looks so that you can have the best of both worlds. One of the pieces that is needed in my wardrobe to achieve my perfect weather look is a vest. Vests are the easiest way you can look layered and polished to perfection.

Why a vest? Vests add layers without tons of bulk. When I wear a blazer and a coat, there are times when you can see how many layers I am wearing and I look bulky. When I am wearing a vest, I can have on a sweater, vest, and a coat and it doesn't look like I am wearing tons of layers. This shearling vest from Simply Be has been a go to now that weather is getting colder. I get the best of both worlds with this vest. Shearling is warm and super on trend, but with the vest, I can wear it alone like I did here, or add layers for a bundled up look (pom pom hat and cozy scarf).

With my vest, I wore a short sleeved striped sweater and a denim pencil skirt. I have been drawn towards colorful prints, and this sweater is super cute. I will be honest, my closet is bursting at the seams with items that are very specific (like sequins, leather, and fur). I want to make sure besides having all those fun pieces I have items that can do double or triple duty. Since this sweater is lightweight, I can wear it with a blazer, or over a button up with a pair of pants, or jeans.

Mod About You

When I was younger, I enjoyed watching movies from the 50's and 60's. The actresses would wear mini's with boots, and they would just strut taking the world by storm. Here it is 2016 and it's like Mod never really left. It was just chilling in the cut, and now its back. My favorite combo was the short jumper with cute boots. It magically makes your legs look longer without hardly any effort. Trust me, anything that makes me appear taller, is a keeper.

Simply Be has been cranking out some hits this Fall, and when I saw this jumper, it was like my mod dreams came true. The Jacquard Tunic is knitted like your favorite sweater, but it is in no way heavy. Lately I have been buying a lot of black based items (The New Yorker in me), so I love that this has red to brighten things up. With the weather being quite variable, I like to throw on a turtleneck. When I leave in the morning, there is a definite chill in the air, not to mention the trains are still blasting the ac...like why??? So a turtleneck is a great layering piece for me. I don't need to bring a scarf, and this one (which is a part of two pack) is a good weight.

As long as the temperature is above 50 degree's there will be no tights on these legs. I just love going bare legged as long as its feasible. Bare legs and booties are a win win combo for fall, and I love these glitter booties. Block heels are HUGE this season, but despite their cuteness, let's talk about how comfortable they are. These are wide width, (I am wearing a size 8W, most of my shoes are 8.5), and they are cushioned. I wore these an entire day, and I was not wanting to chop off my feet. There was a time when I was all about 4-4.5 inch heels, 5 with a platform, but now I am fine with 3.5 or lower. Your feet have to support your whole body, so standing and walking in a block heel is way more manageable and they are glitter...that alone should make you check them out. I rounded out the look with a vampy lip and red crossbody, and enjoyed the rest of the beautiful fall day. Muah lovers!!!
