All About That Trench

Trench coats have always been a closet staple. Their versatility has withstood the test of time. There is no wrong way one can wear a trench coat. It can be casual, dressy, or perfect for work. These days, there are so many different types of trench coats. Besides your traditional trench, there are some with embellishments, or in different fabrications. I'm a sucker for anything leather, so when I saw this trench online from the Avenue, I just had to have it. Also, growing up some of my favorite shows, and movies featured people in cool trench coats - Shaft, Inspector Gadget, Carmen Sandiego, so yeah I had to get this.

This trench comes in two colors, black and brown. I love that it hits me perfectly above my knee and has room to layer. I have worn this around and I received so many compliments. The great thing about this jacket is that I can dress it up when I'm going out on the town with a cute dress and some sparkly pumps, wear it to work with some fun printed pants and  flats, or like I did here with cropped jeans and sneaks.

I've always been a girly tomboy, if that makes any sense. I love jeans and sneakers, but still all about glitter and fur. When I saw these sneakers, I immediately was smitten. It has the best of both worlds. You get all the comfort of a sneaker, and girly vibes with the fur pom poms. These do run on the small side, so make sure to go up half a size for a better fit. Well I'm off now to solve the mystery of my shrinking closet. Later lovers!!!

Dressed In All Black Like The Omen

As a NY gal, wearing all black is just a regular day for us. Black is a wonderful color, it's bold but can still play well with others. It's my security blanket color. Whenever I am in my "I have nothing to wear" moods, black is always there to save the day. I haven't worn all black in forever, and with it being Halloween weekend and one of my favorite 'scary' movies is the Omen, I figured all black would be fun. I'm not a costume girl, but playing around with my clothes and makeup is more my speed.

Sweaters are such a big part of wardrobe especially as the temps drop. I usually just stick to turtlenecks and pullovers, but I have been really stepping out of the box this season. In my quest of trying new things, this maxi sweater from Rachel Rachel Roy called my name. The Rachel Rachel Roy Curvy collection has a lot of great items for the plus size gal. Over the summer, I was all about the wide leg jumpsuit, and now it's this sweater. Sizing wise, I decided to go with a 2X so that it wasn't too tight across the hips. Even though it has this amazingly sexy split, I still want the sweater to skim across my body so that when I walk you get just the perfect hint of leg. The sweater is super soft ribbed knit. All I needed was a pair of great leggings from Forever 21+ and my over the knee boots and I was all set. How did you celebrate Halloween?

Mod About You

When I was younger, I enjoyed watching movies from the 50's and 60's. The actresses would wear mini's with boots, and they would just strut taking the world by storm. Here it is 2016 and it's like Mod never really left. It was just chilling in the cut, and now its back. My favorite combo was the short jumper with cute boots. It magically makes your legs look longer without hardly any effort. Trust me, anything that makes me appear taller, is a keeper.

Simply Be has been cranking out some hits this Fall, and when I saw this jumper, it was like my mod dreams came true. The Jacquard Tunic is knitted like your favorite sweater, but it is in no way heavy. Lately I have been buying a lot of black based items (The New Yorker in me), so I love that this has red to brighten things up. With the weather being quite variable, I like to throw on a turtleneck. When I leave in the morning, there is a definite chill in the air, not to mention the trains are still blasting the ac...like why??? So a turtleneck is a great layering piece for me. I don't need to bring a scarf, and this one (which is a part of two pack) is a good weight.

As long as the temperature is above 50 degree's there will be no tights on these legs. I just love going bare legged as long as its feasible. Bare legs and booties are a win win combo for fall, and I love these glitter booties. Block heels are HUGE this season, but despite their cuteness, let's talk about how comfortable they are. These are wide width, (I am wearing a size 8W, most of my shoes are 8.5), and they are cushioned. I wore these an entire day, and I was not wanting to chop off my feet. There was a time when I was all about 4-4.5 inch heels, 5 with a platform, but now I am fine with 3.5 or lower. Your feet have to support your whole body, so standing and walking in a block heel is way more manageable and they are glitter...that alone should make you check them out. I rounded out the look with a vampy lip and red crossbody, and enjoyed the rest of the beautiful fall day. Muah lovers!!!

C Siriano

I'm all about designer collaborations. It's a great way for brands to work with different aesthetics and in turn we get great fashion. When Lane Bryant started working with designers on capsule collections I was excited. It's been through these collaborations, I have scored some pretty awesome items. Christian Siriano has been my favorite thus far. He dresses for all not some, and the things he has sent down the runway has been amazing. His Spring collection had me swooning (C'mon that pink moto was everything), and now the Fall collection has our hearts again. I definitely indulged more this time around. The pieces I gravitated towards were the dresses and outerwear. The first thing I saw at his preview was this fur trimmed vest

When it comes to outerwear, vests are my achilles heel. I like the ability of layering different pieces together. Now that it is officially Fall, the weather is very sporadic. In the mornings, there is a chill in the air, and by the afternoon it is warm. Wearing a vest allows me to adjust for the crazy temperature changes. Cobalt blue is a great color that looks amazing on everyone. I have yet to see a woman in cobalt and it does not look good. The fur collar is removable, and this kept me warm while walking around with my girls.

Wearing boots sans tights to me is one the sexiest things ever. That hint of leg is alluring. I have been on the hunt for a pair of over the knee boots with a walkable heel. I love me some heels, but wearing 3.5-4 inch heels all day is not happening. For those that can wear, stand, and/or run in heels all day, I salute you. I wanted something with a bit of a heel, but can be worn with ease. These days when it comes to wide calf boots, the hunt can be serious. I am very particular about  my boots. I prefer real leather or suede, but if they are faux, it has to look good. I'm not the biggest fan of stretch panels, so I want something that some stretch but the majority of the boot is not material. I find it crazy that some places charge over $100 for a boot that is mostly made of a faux leather stretch panel. There is no way that boot is worth that much in my opinion. In my hunt, I came across these from Marc Fisher. I have been a fan of the shoes for a while, but this was my first boot purchase. These are wide calf and I had no issues getting them on. My calves are 17.5 inches, and I'm 5'5" so I need the boot to hit in the right spot. I'm quite happy with them, and best believe I will be getting much wear from them.

I'm always in need of a good work bag. I want something pretty, but functional. The Myriam tote has tons of pockets. I can fit my laptop, wallet, camera, and all the essentials I carry with me on a daily basis. When running around a good life bag as I like to call it, has everything I need to get me through the day. Have you indulged in any serious fall shopping? Would love to know what was on your must have list?

Check Me Out

When I was younger, I always loved houndstooth. My mom had this cool houndstooth coat that she would wear to work. My mom was always the epitome of work chic. 20 years later, and houndstooth is still a go to print. Houndstooth for me was synonymous with workwear, but in actuality this print can be edgy and fun.

Is it me, or when you stare at my dress it looks like the classic arcade game Space Invaders?

This houndstooth dress from Ellos is a great addition to your wardrobe. This dress is definitely classic. A sheath dress in houndstooth is something that you can dress up or down. I wanted to keep it classic but add a slight twist. A little classic, some edge, and just all around fun. I love wearing dresses in the fall. The cooler temps call for some great booties, and jacket. I was in need of new pair of Chelsea boots, and when I saw these on the site they were added to my cart immediately. Finding a good pair of booties is vital for me in NYC. I need a pair that are not only comfortable, but can handle walking around in these streets. These are 100% leather, and I love them.

With such a classic dress, I decided to keep it going with the classics, and pair it with a moto jacket. This is my oldie but goodie from the Who What Wear Collection. For $40 this jacket has been a great addition to my closet. I wear it all the time, and with it being cropped it works with everything. My Rebecca Minkoff Quilted Affair came along for the ride and completed my look. All that was left was a high pony and a purplish black lippie. I love mixing things up and it's easy to do so when you have versatile pieces that can be dressed up or down. How do you switch up your classic pieces?
